2008 New Year’s Day – Corporate Board Meeting

Last Day 2008

Classic Barnegat Sneakboxes

Classic Barnegat was started by Don Warren of Mayo, MD in the early 1990’s.  He has made hundreds of boats since then using the traditional design that’s been around for the past 150 years.

In 2007, Don retired and Classic Barnegat was taken over by Kirk Sherbine, Dave Enos, and Dave Wright of Somerset, PA.  Between the direction of Don Warren, and the expertise of Dave Wright, who manufactures fiberglass aircraft, these boats will be expertly crafted for years to come.

In addition, there have been many new improvements since the new owners took over.  The boats are now US Coast Guard certified, flotation has been added per Coast Guard specs, and many new features have been added to the boats.

Waterfowling in western Pennsylvania is a competitive sport.  The lack of birds means that there are only a few “great spots”, and hunters must scout relentlessly then get there early to claim their turf.  For years the Enos’ and Sherbines competed against each other.  One would get there at 5:00 to find the other one already setting up.  So the next morning they’d get there at 4:30, etc. etc.  Then one day several years ago a mutual friend stopped in after a hunt and introduced them.  They decided to hunt together the next day, and they’ve been hunting together ever since.  In addition to hunting together every weekend (and most week days),  they also make their annual pilgrimage to North Dakota, and have hunted in Manitoba, Maryland, and New Jersey as well.  During the off-season of 2005 they teamed up with Dave Wright to make a fiberglass duckboat fashioned after a Perrine Barnegat Bay Sneakbox.

Dave Enos

Dave Enos is employed as a welder in Somerset, PA.  Before that he was self-employed doing custom hauling and dairy farming.  Dave has been an avid waterfowler his entire life.  His dad took him duck and goose hunting from the time he could walk, and most mornings still find him in the marsh, duck boat, or goose blind.  He is a member of Ducks Unlimited, Susquehanna River Waterfowlers, and Delta Waterfowl.  When not working or waterfowling he is an avid sporting clays shooter and decoy carver.

Kirk Sherbine

Kirk Sherbine is in charge of operations at a Rockwood, PA manufacturing plant.  He has two sons, Zachary 12, and Tyler 9, who have probably spent more days hunting then most adults.  Kirk is a dedicated waterfowler.  He was Area Chairman for Ducks Unlimited for 10 years and still an active member.  He is also a member of Delta Waterfowl, Susquehanna River Waterfowlers, Trout Unlimited, and the NRA.  When not working or hunting he coaches youth football and is an avid fly fisherman.

Dave Wright

Dave Wright grew up in the fiberglass industry.  His family owns Advanced Composite Technologies, which builds fiberglass high performance airplanes.  He has been working with fiberglass all of his life, and working there full time for the past 7 years as the Head Fiberglass Technician.  As expected, the airline industry is an extremely quality conscious environment.  One mistake can cause disaster.  Dave is fully trained and certified in all fiberglass methods, and a great addition to our staff.  Between Don Warren’s boat design, and Dave Wright’s fiberglass expertise, we can insure that Classic Barnegat’s boat construction is top notch.
